Goodnight Moon Bloggy Giveaway

Goodnight Moon has been a children's classic for decades and is an integral part of my son's nightly bedtime ritual. It's a book that my family loves and one I'd like to share with a lucky winner for the Bloggy Giveaway Carnival.

If want to win a copy, leave a comment on this post telling me what your favorite story or book was as a child and why you want this copy of Goodnight Moon. While you're here, I'd love it if you poked around a bit and signed up for my RSS feed. The contest is open only to those in the continental U.S. due to shipping costs and restrictions, sorry!

  1. My parents used to read this to me and my sister when we were kids. As a result, my sister talked to the moon whenever we saw it at night. If we were riding in the car she would say, "Look the moon is following us."

    I'd love to read it to my daughter. Pick me!

  2. My one favorite books was The Monster At The End of This Book. I love reading it to my kids.

    Shockingly enough we have never read Goodnight Moon but they love some of the other books by the same author, so I would love to add to our collection.

  7. Goodnight Moon was a favorite, as well as Are You My Mother? I'm expecting my first baby in November, and I'd love to be able to read him Goodnight Moon. I'm sure he'll love it as much as I did!

  8. My favorite childhood book was Misty of Chincoteague by Marguerite Henry. I have such fond memories of reading it over and over and over.

    I'd love to have Goodnight Moon for my youngest. The copy we had for our oldest didn't survive. LOL

  11. This is an amazing story! It's wonderful to share over generations.

    My favorite story as a child was Where the wild things are, however I LOVED Shel Silverstein as well. Genius.

  14. I always love Charlotte's Web. I would love a copy of Goodnight Moon...we have a board book copy, but it would be nice to have a regular version of this classic as well for our home library.

  17. I read this book to my nieces when I baby-sat! I know my son would love it too. Growing up my favorites were the Bernstein Bears...among many others! I like Harry the Dirty Dog too :-)

    He loves to cuddle in my arms and looks at pictures and smile at me. Its a precious sight!

    My favorite book when I was younger...I'll love you forever...my own mom and me share a special bond with that book.

  29. Little House books, my mother would read chapters to me at bedtime. I also had the "Are you my mother" book from a thrift store and was traumatized because someone had added the F word after every mother. LOL

  38. Everynight our routine is to snuggle in my 2 year olds bed, nurse for a few minutes, and read a book. That's why I'd love to have this book. When I was younger I loved Where The Wildthings Are.

  46. as a little girl there was a book about a girl who becomes a big sister, and her name was also elizabeth. i don't remember the name, but it contained the line "elizabeth, said mommy crossly, you woke the baby!"

  65. I love the Eric Carle books, especially Draw Me a Star it has a very special place in my heart. We had a copy of Goodnight Moon when my 6 year old was a baby, but it is really beat up and falling apart. I would love a new copy for my baby Jack so he can love this story as much as my other children.

  100. My favorite story as a child was called "Hyram's Red Shirt". My mom always tells the story about how she use to get so sick of reading that book every night. I can still remember some of the words. LOL. I'd love this book for my kids because I've seem it on so many best-sellers and recommended reading list and I've never had the chance to read it.

  108. Noisy Nora, Bedtime for Frances, The Little Red Car, I'm Going to Run Away, Curious George, Mike Mulligan and the Steam Shovel, Where the Wild Things Are... It's hard to pick a favorite because my parents read to me a lot when I was little. It has stayed with me my whole life. Now my wife and I try to read with our kids as much as we can so that they'll have a love of reading, too. (And the time spent with them is priceless.) Goodnight Moon is a classic and unfortunately our copy didn't survive our first two kids - it was, um, well loved. We'd really love to be able to share it with our next child, too.

  109. My favorite books were all of the Frances books and Frog and Toad books. I read those over and over and over. I just loved them.
    I would love this copy of Goodnight Moon because
    my copy has been read and loved to death. It's coming apart and I need to replace it. We've got years more of reading (looking) at this wonderful storybook.
